The Independent reports on John Terry’s coup attempt

Sam Wallace writes about how John Terry seems to have quietly taken over the role of the team’s chief negotiator.
The dark interpretation is that it is an attempt to undermine Capello’s authority to exact some retribution for his stripped captaincy. A more altruistic reading says it is a genuine attempt to find their way around a World Cup campaign that has gone sour.
In the end it seems all that Terry wanted was a beer.

One comment on “The Independent reports on John Terry’s coup attempt
  1. It’s high time that Capello picked his England side on merit, not reputation.
The now impotent strike force of Wayne Rooney (no goals in his last seven matches) and Emile Heskey (7 goals in 60 internationals) should be ditched in favour of Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe.
Michael Dawson should get the nod over Matthew Upson in central defence and Joe Cole should start over Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard – surely Capello has realised by now that he can’t play both?
If Capello did this, England might yet stand a sporting chance of progressing out of the group stage.
