From the US Soccer website’s game notes:
There are a few instances in sporting history of father’s coaching their son’s at the highest level. A couple of famous ones include – Cesare and Paolo Maldini in soccer and Cal Ripken Sr. and Jr. in baseball.
“But how about having two teams with this phenomenon playing against each other – anyone heard of that happening? There is a good chance it will occur this Saturday. Squaring off against U.S. head coach Bob Bradley and midfielder Michael Bradley will be Slovakia head coach Vladimir Weiss (himself a former professional) and a young midfielder at Manchester City by the name of Vladimir Weiss Jr. If you trivia buffs can find another instance of that happening, we’re all ears.”
