Bora Milutinovic on Iraq’s defeat against Spain.
“I am very, very happy with the defeat, I am not only happy I am delighted. I was very happy with the way my team played and I am very pleased we did not lose by four goals.”
With six defenders in the Iraq’s starting line up and nine players behind the ball, Spain had to break through a wall. David Villa did just that as he headed down a Joan Capdevila cross. Its Spain’s 14th successive victory and is one match short of the existing record of 35 unbeaten matches held by Brazil.
Yet, as Bora put it Iraq actually has a good chance of qualifying for the semi-finals:
“In the first game it is important not to lose, in the second game it is important to get the best possible result and we did that today. Maybe we can go through to the semi-finals with only two points. It is possible.”
One comment on “Confederations Cup: Bora happy with team’s defeat”
Excellent plan by Bora for the Iraqi team that followed the plan perfectly, and made it extremely hard for Spain to get their only goal in the match that wasn’t going to be possible if it wasn’t for the mistake made by one of the Iraqi defenders.
Good on you Iraq. that’s the no1 team in the world you just played and you did a tremendous job.
