Newcastle win a trophy at last

More good news for Harry Kane because Newcastle United have finally done it! They broke a jinx that lasted 70 years. So Kane can do it too. The trophy drought had endured so long (The last time they won a trophy was in 1969) that some fans were starting to wonder if silverware was just a myth. The Magpies soared to Carabao Cup glory with a well-earned victory over Liverpool at Wembley.

The Toon Army erupted in sheer disbelief (and a few pints surely) as Dan Burn nodded one in before Alexander Isak sealed the deal. Now, Eddie Howe and his squad are set for legendary status on Tyneside, with their names likely to be carved into the Angel of the North by morning.

(The Angel of the North ,by the way,is a massive steel sculpture in Gateshead, near Newcastle. Designed by artist Antony Gormley, it stands 20 meters (66 feet) tall with a wingspan of 54 meters (177 feet)—basically wider than a Boeing 757’s wings.

It was installed in 1998 and has since become an iconic symbol of the North East. Some say it looks majestic, others think it resembles a giant aeroplane about to take off, but either way, it’s one of the UK’s most famous pieces of public art.

And if Newcastle keep winning trophies, they might have to stick a black-and-white scarf around it!
