The Champion’s League new format

In the 2024–25 season the Champions League will expand from 32 teams to 36, with all teams in one league table. Each team will play eight games, four at home and four away, and the draw will determine the fixtures. 

A 36-team competition will have results from eight rounds of fixtures in the league phase – each team will face eight opponents, four at home, four away – forming a table. From there, the top eight teams go through to the round of 16, while 16 more play off to complete the knockout lineup
