Malouda – brilliant debut goal

Chelsea’s most expensive summer import Florent Malouda scored this great goal in Chelsea’s Community shield game against Manchester United.

And an interesting comparision between Malouda’s moment of debut brilliance and Andriy Shevchenko’s moment of brilliance (video)against Liverpool last season – and subsequent failure to live up to expectations -can be read here….

  1. For me, the #1 story of the summer transfer season into the Prem has not been Tevez, Nani or Torres but Malouda to Chelsea. I’m very irritated that Arsenal didn’t get him. Some gooners are calling him average or mediocre, more fool them. Malouda was the unsung hero of France’s wc run last summer, esp. in the final. He’s a workhorse, never gives up, he’s powerful and strong, and he’s got an excellent eye for goal. Arsenal need a player like him. I only hope Mourinho doesn’t use him to his best potential or that he has trouble adjusting in the Prem. But I think Chelsea’s acquisitions–Malouda, Alex and now Dani Alves–will help them win the title again.

Where are you getting the news that Alves has joined Chelsea?
He is still a rumour….. but I agree that Alves would seal the deal. Two dangerous wingers and the best finisher in the business and it will be hard to keep Chelsea from winning again

  3. As hard as it is to believe, I think Chelsea made the best (read: most cost efficient and ‘intelligent’) transfers so far this summer. Though Malouda wasn’t cheap, he was really the only money they spent on new players, and he’s definitely a class player. Also, the additions of Sidwell, Pizarro and Ben Haim (all free) are great cover for their starting XI, and Alex coming back from loan will give Terry and Carvalho cause not to take their starting positions for granted.
