Van Persie is tipped for greatness: His words and actions

I think Robin Van Persie’s words should be taken seriously because it means that there are players who look beyond salaries and the chance of winning at all costs. Players like Dennis Bergkamp, Paul Scholes, and Ryan Giggs are a rare and vanishing breed. But we love them not for the glory days but because they stuck around during the days of despair.
Van Persie’s words and actions are an endorsement for Arsenal’s brand of soccer. It does two things. It clearly and unequivocally separates Arsenal from Man Utd, Chelsea, and Liverpool. And he is stepping in neatly into a leadership role too. These words were a potshot at the other clubs but it could be construed as aimed at some Arsenal players both past and present. His words separate him out very quickly from Henry who never quite endorsed Arsenal’s quality in such ringing words, seemingly more concerned about big signings and lack of titles.
He might strike some as being combative and critics will be quick to point out the lack of silverware but Van Persie, if healthy, is showing signs that he is ready to take on the mantle of the striker that Arsenal was looking for. He is not as quick as Henry and his predilection for his left foot limits him but he has incredible skills with the ball as seen in the beauty of a goal against Inter in the Emirates Cup. But he also has hubris, a fighting spirit, and a willingness to be vocal in a way that Henry never was. He also appreciates the faith that Wenger has placed in him.
I think the greatest thing that Arsenal has got going for them is the lack of faith in many that they are incapable of challenging for the title. When they do, they will do so with a brand of soccer that will put a smile on the lips of the most blighted soul.

  1. Beautiful write up its Arsenal till I drop come rain or shine, the greatest asset that any club can have are faith and loyalty from players and fans alike, these I will keep pouring on the Gunners forever. I salute V.Persie, Fabregas and others who have done thesame.
