Helenio Herrera was master of the defensive playing style called Catenaticcio -which gave Inter Milan 3 Serie A titles and two European Cups.
Luciano Spalletti was revived an old tactic called the False 9 and used it very effectively when managing Roma.Pep Guardiola employed one Lionel Messi as a false 9 to great effect at Barcelona.
Guardiola also took Barcelona to further great heights with Tiki Taka – a way of play that reached its pinnacle when the tiki taka magicians of Spain won the Euro and the World Cup.
