After four defeats in nine games Balotelli and Lazar Markovic were benched.
Liverpool then proceeded to stagger to a 2-1 victory over West Brom in which Balotelli eventually came on as a sub for the last half hour.
Needless to say he did not score either of the two goals.
He has also been left out of the Italian squad for the Euro 2016 qualifying games.
