The Nigerian team were to play an AFCON qualifier against Libya in Bengazi . Their plane however was diverted to the Al Abraq airport located 250 km away from their destination. There the team was made to wait for 17 hours without food or refreshment. That’s one way to ensure that the home team wins the game. The Nigerian team however,decrying the alleged conspiracy,announced that they would not play the the fixture and went home in a huff instead. More on this strange saga here.. (and also here ..)
