Greenwashing has been added to the list of dubious activities,mastered under the reign of Sepp Blatter,that FIFA stands accused of.
Last June, a Fifa report said the 2022 World Cup would produce up to 3.6 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, which is more than some nations produce in a year.For instance, Montenegro, Iceland and the Democratic Republic of the Congo all produced fewer than three million tonnes of CO2 in the year 2018, according to the International Energy Agency.
Claims by FIFA and Qatar that World Cup 2022 will be the first ever Carbon Neutral World Cup are alleged to be fraudulent and even downright(insert suitable synonym for fraudlent here)
FlFA had also engaged in a similar greenwashing process for World Cup 2018 in Russia but what with the pandemic afflicted two years that have dragged by that World Cup has become a distant memory in a world that seems to have been a saner place.
