USA beat Spain 2 – 1 , both goals coming off penalties and are through to the quarter finals.
There they will face a French team that will not let them past easily.
It will be the sternest test of their mettle.
The Spanish team gave them a bit of a scare and it the much maligned VAR had to come to their help for the second penalty that they were awarded.
