The Foxes continue their dream start under the Tinkerman. The Hammers fell to first half goals from Shinji Okazaki and Riyad Mahrez continued his red hot form by scoring his third goal in two matches. In a twist, Jamie Vardy fined this week and ordered to undergo sensitivity training for racist abuse calling a casino player ” a Jap” was the player who provided Okazaki with the assist. Truly, life is stranger than fiction. Okazaki was also involved in the second goal feeding Marc Albrighton, who entered the box drawing out the defenders, cuts back for Mahrez to lash home.
16 year old Reece Oxford had a fine debut against Arsenal but was ineffective this time with Vardy and Albrighton overrunning him at will and was taken off at half time. His replacement Pedro Obiang also making his debut improved the midfield and West Ham were able to claw a goal back through Dmitri Payet.
However, Leicester City by that time had parked the bus and Kasper Schmeichel brought off a key save denying Mamadou Sakho. The Danish goalie was lucky to be on the pitch after a collision with Sakho just before the half. However, as an earlier post mentions his opposite number Adrian was not so fortunate. West Ham on top of the world last weekend were cut down to size. The Foxes however on the strength of their two matches are far from relegation fodder.
