Good news for the Gunners. Theo Walcott signed a four year contract extension with Arsenal raising his wages to $220,000 per week. Santi Cazorla, the pint sized midfield maestro renewed his contract for two more years. Gives a more settled feel to the squad ready to take on Chelsea this weekend for the Community Shield. Walcott missing for most of last season showed what the Gunners were missing with some excellent strikes including a hat trick against the Baggies and the opening goal against Aston Villa in the FA Cup romp. Cazorla just brings a smile to the lips every time he takes to the pitch. It does not get more close control.
Given the flux of departing players, it still comes as a bit of a surprise Walcott is Arsenal’s longest serving player.
