International Champions Cup: New York Red Bulls stun Chelsea, 4-2

Chelsea began their pre-season with a loss.

A largely second string Red Bulls kicked off their comeback after John Terry’s weak back pass was intercepted by Franklin Castellanos who beat Asimir Begovic to the ball and slotted it into an empty goal. Begovic was also beaten by Tyler Adams header and a pair of Sean Davis goals. For the Blues, Loic Remy scored a comfortable opener and Eden Hazard cut the lead to a goal. Jose Mourinho was his usual smirky humble self.

Some bon mots: “They gave us a good training session” and “You’re speaking with the manager of the best team in England, We don’t have fragilities.”
