Trinidad and Tobago receives formal application from the USA to extradite Jack Warner. The former FIFA Vice President and CONCACAF chairman faces charges of racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy. He’s also considered one of Sepp Blatter’s most loyal sidekicks and has threatened to squeal on his former boss if he is threatened.
How realistic is extradition? Well, Warner is the leader of the country’s Independent Liberal Party and is a Parliamentary member. He was the former minister of national security in the United National Congress, the majority party in the ruling coalition. So in short, it will be difficult but it should become clear when Trinidad and Tobago weigh Warner’s comical outbursts of bluster against the Onion and John Oliver as just one of the many reasons for continued national embarrassment. That’s when they throw him under the bus.
