2015 Gold Cup: Haiti eliminate fancied Honduras

It’s all over for Los Catrachos who with the USA were favoured to qualify for the quarterfinals from Group A. They were beaten by Haiti as Duckens Nazon scored possibly the biggest goal in his life in the 13th minute. Johny Placide raked a long floating goal kick which Kervins Belfort got to before Jonny Palacios to head the ball Nazon’s way and the striker was able to get around Maynor Figueroa and slide it into goal. Very tentative defending from the former Wigan Athletic veteran.

Los Catrachos took their time getting their attack organized and it was only in the 58th minute that Placide had to come up big to block Eddy Hernandez’s clear on goal effort. Haiti with 4 points qualify for the quarterfinals along with the USA, Group A’s winner.
