Check out Andrija Zivkovic cheekily nutmegging Brazil’s Lucao to link up with Nemanja Maksimovic for his winning goal in the 117th minute.
This was a fast paced, open ended encounter with Brazil dominant and Serbia threatening on counterattacks and set pieces. The Serbs went ahead late in the second half as Stanisa Mandic tapped in Maksimovic’s cross in the 70th minute. Mandic’s strike was the first goal Brazil had conceded in 502 minutes. Three minutes later, Andreas Pereira scored the goal of the tournament with a wonderful slaloming run past defenders before finishing off superbly beating Pedrag Rajkovic, the otherwise impregnable goalie, with a series of stunning saves to keep Serbia in the game.
“I can tell you we were lucky,” Serbia coach Veljko Paunovic said. “But luck is a part of the game and you have to deserve to be lucky. At the end I believe the team that wanted to win most would win this trophy and we got it.”
Congratulations, Serbia!
