Torres has returned to Atletico Madrid and his return is not like Aragorn returning as king.
When he left for Liverpool seven or so years ago Atlético Madrid were going nowhere and he was the rising star with the promise of becoming one of the greats of the game.
And he started like that – scoring 54 goals in his first three seasons and coming a worthy third in run for the Ballon d’Or.
He returns home to Atletico Madrid a bit like a prodigal son looking for one more chance for redemption – with only one goal in 10 games at Milan to show and Chelsea closing their doors on him.
Atletico in the recent past have won the Europa League, the Copa del Rey, the La Liga and have reached the final of the Champions League.
So here’s wishing Torres all the best one last time.
May 2015 be the year he finds his lost form.
