Louis van Gaal’s first major move since becoming Manchester United manager is to get rid of the old grass.
The grass at the training pitches at the club’s Carrington base is going to be replaced by Desso, a synthetic-grass hybrid material.
The new turf is part of the plan to improve the footballing fortunes of Rooney and Co and also happens to be a darn sight greener than the grass on the other of the fence.
