Apparently a state of emergency has been declared in Manaus for the entire duration of the World Cup.
The official excuse is that this is due to the threat of flooding. WHAT? No one thought of flooding before this? It’s on the Amazon, the biggest river (by volume) in the world.
Or maybe they just don’t want poor people to protest, and this is a good way to keep them off the streets and in the favelas. One more thing: its 90°F (32°C) with 48% humidity. Have fun, y’all. This is cool compared to Qatar!
