Lets face it. The actor who played Aragorn is not a fan of the Real Madrid manager. He was in Madrid to promote his new film and he took time off to say what he thought of Jose Mourinho who has had his share of run ins with the milder mannered Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova but would never do the same with Diego Simeone.
That is because it would end badly for him if he had to face up to the Argentinian version of Vinnie Jones.
“I suppose ‘Sir’ Mourinho would not have the balls to get in ‘Cholo’ Simeone’s face, because he’d get a good kicking if he did.”
Mortensen also criticizes Mourinho’s defensive philosophy with all the attacking talent on display at the club. And he makes no bones he considers Leo Messi, one of the best footballer of all times. Not just because of his skill and invention but because of his humility and for not blowing his own trumpet.
“Pele and Maradona have to accept that Messi has taken football to another level.”
The constant war of words between Pele and Maradona has eaten into his respect for both players.
What about Cristiano Ronaldo? He’s been in the news saying he’s “sad” at Real setting off shock waves.
“He’s got nothing to complain about, he should stop diving and play for the good of the team. He could be the best in the world if he really wanted to, but prefers to waste his time moaning and crying over what could have been.”
Couldn’t have put it better myself. Viggo Mortensen, fine actor and a true fan of the sport.
