Copa America 2011: Venezuela down Chile, 2-1

Just to make sure that this Copa was not done providing upsets. Venezuela joined the eye widening list of semi-finalists as they overcame Chile.
Oswaldo Vizcarrando already a legend for his goal line save in the Brazil group match cemented his status as he diverted the ball into goal off a Juan Arango free kick with a perfect flick of his head.
El Chupete restored parity for Chile with his equalizer. It was another Arango set piece that proved their undoing when goalie Claudio Bravo spilled his free kick and Gabriel Cichero lurking in front of the goalmouth was at hand to deliver Venezuela a historic win.
Their first ever entry into the semi-finals means this line up is unprecedented in the 95 years of this championship. This puts 2001 into perspective when Colombia won the Copa beating Mexico and Honduras prevailed over Uruguay to capture the third spot.
