“I hope I never get to see the likes of you in Dagestan”
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport the owner of Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, Suleiman Kerimov is ready to offer Gennaro Gattuso, the snarling pit bull of AC Milan the equivalent of Cristiano Ronaldo’s salary. Kerimov can easily afford to do so as the 118th richest individual in the world with a personal fortune estimated at over $7 billion.
At 34 years and a step closer to retirement this might be a tempting offer for Gattuso to cash in even if it means a club very few have heard of. Kerimov is determined to make Anzhi a top notch club in the Russian league a la Abramovich with Chelsea. Gattuso if he decides to join can count Roberto Carlos, Jucelei, and Diego Tardelli as team mates.
Massimiliano Allegri is also unsure of the status of veterans Clarence Seedorf and Andrea Pirlo whose contracts are up this year. Pirlo whose season was injury plagued is still highly sought by Allegri. Massimo Ambrosini will remain with the Rossoneri. If Pirlo or Gattuso leave then Milan will have to find someone to bolster Mark Van Bommel in midfield. Kevin Prince Boateng on loan from Genoa as part of the co-ownership deal between both clubs will also likely be retained due to a “gentlemen’s agreement.”
Adriano Galliani is determined to get Paulo Henrique Ganso the highly regarded midfielder from Santos. Federico Marchetti is likely to join as Christian Abbiati’s understudy in goal. AC Milan are also anticipating the arrival of Phillipe Mexes from AS Roma and Taye Taiwo from L’OM in the summer to take over from Alessandro Nesta and Marek Jankulovski.
