Finally, some news of Phillipe Senderos whose Arsenal future has been in limbo for years. He has departed for Fulham on a free transfer.
He was at Milan for the 2008-2009 season and then went to Everton on loan for the second half of the 2009-2010 season. In these two years he managed only a handful of appearances but still made Ottmar Hitzfeld’s World Cup squad for Switzerland.
Senderos is a replacement for Chris Smalling, the central defender who signed with Man Utd this summer. With Brede Hangeland perennially linked to Arsenal, Hodgson was looking for insurance. However, with Hageland and Aaron Hughes already ensconced in the central defender positions, it is hard to see Senderos get any substantial playing minutes.
