When Marcelo Lippi announces his 23 man squad, Gianpaolo Pazzini will be in it because of what he did today against Napoli.
Pazzini scored his 18th goal and a never more important one as Sampdoria heads back to the Champions League for the first time since 1992, when they played the European Cup finals against Barca losing in extra time to a Ronald Koeman goal.
The Napoli match also saw Pazzini’s rival, Fabio Quagliarella severely test Marco Storari who again showed outstanding reflexes to keep the ball away. He then survived a scare from Stefano Lucchini who headed the ball for a near own goal. Luckily for him and Sampdoria it drifted out.
