The Premiership title returns to Stamford Bridge

In some style too. An 8-0 thrashing of Wigan on the last day. Goals from Anelka, Kalou, Lampard, Ashley Cole, and of course Drogba.
103 goals, +71 goal differential, and the Golden boot for Didier Drogba. And Petr Cech with 16 clean sheets as goalkeeper of the year along with Pepe Reina. This will be hard to top.
“King Carlo more than Special.”
Ancelotti did it in the most open ended Premiership season. The top four tumbled to regular upsets by the lower ranked clubs. 22 changes at the top. Till three weeks ago, it was anyone’s guess who would be champions. Comparisons to the Special One, aided and abetted by Mourinho himself and constantly harped to by the Guardian writers who were scathing in their critique. The CL semi-final exit was a big thorn.
One can argue that Ancelotti just built on the nucleus left by Mourinho. But full marks to Ancelotti who took a squad in a bit of a midlife crisis and kept them going though moments of adversity, injury, and huge off field distractions. He is on track to achieving the double. A distinction that eluded Mourinho.
