Rooney and 31 other portraits of World Cup footballers will be
on display at the Offside Gallery, Islington
Illustrator Eliott Quince has created 32 portraits of footballers representing each national team in the 2010 World Cup. He takes playground stickers or panini, supersizes them, and paints them onto a canvas.
The result is eye catching portraits of iconic football figures like Wayne Rooney, Michael Essien, Kaka, Roque Santa Cruz, Shunsuke Nakamura, Tim Cahill, Karim Ziani, and Landon Donovan, embodying the hopes of their nations in the World Cup. The list of footballers is available on his website.
Eliott will be adding a new portrait each day to his website till launch night on June 12th, when the whole collection will be on display at the Offside Gallery, Islington. The exhibit will be on till the end of the World Cup. So if you happen to be in that neck of the woods, please check it out.
The proceeds from the sale of these portraits go to the very worthy cause of helping the babies at Luton and Dunstable Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. There is a very personal note to Eliott’s appeal.
Go to Eliott’s website: Got, got, got, need! to learn more details on why, which, when and where, and how to buy these portraits.
