Good news for the good ship Fulham in its voyage to dizzying never before glory. Bobby Zamora, the driving force in their Europa Cup campaign with 8 goals is likely to take the field. All indications are that he has recuperated very well from his Achilles tendon injury.
“He trained on Monday and that was very, very positive,” said manager Roy Hodgson. “I’ve been given no indication that he’s suffering from a reaction so my hope is that he’ll be available.”
Zamora’s exclusion from England’s World Cup squad might give extra impetus to score goals. He will have Damien Duff who also comes back from injury.
The English Parliament might be in for a fractious time with political parties that have very different and competing philosophies forming a coalition but there is no doubt that all of England is behind the Cottagers. A wave of goodwill bathes the club. Danny Murphy, the captain:
“This is probably the first time the whole of England want an English club to win in Europe.” declared Murphy.
In Roy Hodgson we trust. The manager of the year is in sight of unique company – the first Englishman since Bobby Robson to win a European trophy, the Cup Winners’ Cup with Barcelona 13 years ago.
