Two situations: Two different outcomes for Vermaelen
Dutch newspapers are confirming the sale of Thomas Vermaelen to Arsenal on a four year contract worth 11.5 million euros.
No official word out from Wenger or at the club website. RVP seems to be happy.
That dust up last season on the “lack of inches” plaguing the defense does not seem to have prevented Wenger from pursuing the 5’11” Ajax defender. Vermaelen is supposed to play bigger than his height suggests which obviously means, he possesses a strong vertical leap.
The pictures seem to indicate that potential but obviously, the keys are timing and positioning.
Micah Richards is reportedly out of favour at Man City and is mentioned as an Arsenal possibility for a straight swap with Kolo Toure. Another possibility is Brede Hangeland who has not yet renewed his Fulham contract.
Edin Dzeko will not be joining the Gunners. Reports are that he prefers to stay on at Wolfsburg if the contract negotiations proceed successfully. If there is any club that can lay a claim on him it will be Milan. Dzeko is a long standing Rossoneri fan.
