Landon Donovan – seen here wearing USA’s all new royal blue uniform -scored all the three goals for USA taking them to a 3-1 exhibition victory over Ecuador in Florida.
It was interim Coach Bob Bradley’s third win in three matches which must be a pretty good record for an interim coach to have.If the U.S. keeps winning under Bradley, it’s going to be awfully hard for USSF president Sunil Gulati not to make Bradley the full-time coach.
Donovan’s total of international goals stands at 30, which ties him at second place with Brian McBride. Eric Wynalda holds the first place with 34 goals.
After his perfomance Donovan’s critics may have second thoughts about whether he is capable of being a good leader after all.
Donovan said.”At the end of the World Cup, as bad as that was for me personally, I feel like I learned a lot from it and I think I grew up a lot….I got married this offseason. That helped me grow up, and I’m now embracing a leadership role. I used to say, ‘I want to be a leader, I want to be a leader,’ but it’s not good enough to say it. You have to show it.”
One comment on “Donovan scores all the goals”
3-0 sounds good, until you consider the level of competition. I still think that Bradley is not the right guy to elevate the American game and program to the next level.
