FIFA President Sepp Blatter criticised government interference in football, just a day after he agreed to set up a commission with Polish authorities to tackle a dispute over government powers to sack footballing bosses.FIFA said it is also concerned by other situations of government interference in Algeria, Cambodia, Iran, Nigeria, Poland and Portugal. A dispute with Greece had been resolved, it said.
Elsewhere Blatter’s intervention helped Tanzanian footballer of the century Mathias Kisa to get his FIFA centennial award – overdue by two years.
And Patrick Barclay writing in the Telegraph says not all of Blatter’s ideas are bad.
