Wayne Rooney’s rehab of his metatarsal fracture is going well. In fact, he might be in for England’s knockout stage (on paper it is a given but they still have to play those pesky first round matches). He will be on the flight to Germany next Monday.
For England this is great news. The good thing is that Rooney has moved onto full weight bearing on his leg. He will then require tonnes of pylometrics and strengthening of his intrinsic foot muscles and calf muscles to achieve that spring in his step and the acceleration that makes him so lethal.
However, one does not know what the future bodes for Rooney. He is prone to this type of injury and his playing time through a long EPL season will be predicated on the health of his metatarsals.
